3 Warning Signs Your AC May Be In Need Of Repair

Posted on: 4 October 2022

Coming home to discover your air conditioner is no longer working is an obvious sign that you are in need of AC repairs. Thankfully, in many cases, you do not need to wait for this type of obvious system failure in order to address problems with your cooling system. This is because there are often warning signs that a problem is brewing long before your air conditioner stops working altogether. Once you know what to look for, you will be able to repair minor issues before they leave you without air conditioning on a hot day. Continue reading below to learn more about some of the warning signs that you should look out for.

#1: Reduced Air Pressure From Your Vents

Does it seem like the cool air produced by your AC is no longer blowing out of your vents with the same force it once did? If so, this reduction in air pressure can indicate a problem with your blower fan, clogged vents, or a dirty air filter. When addressed quickly, most of these issues can be resolved with minimal effort and money. However, if you fail to address these issues in their earliest stages, they can result in the need for significant repairs. Consequently, it is important not to ignore this warning sign even if you are still able to cool your home with reduced air pressure.

#2: Frequent Cycling

An air conditioner that is functioning properly will not need to cycle on very often once your home has reached its desired temperature. If you notice that your AC seems to be turning on and off frequently, this could indicate a problem with your thermostat or with your condenser. While you will likely be able to still maintain a cool environment in your home when experiencing this particular problem, you will certainly see evidence of the problem on your next electric bill. To avoid spending a small fortune on wasted energy, you will want to get this problem fixed as quickly as possible.

#3: Moisture Around Your AC Unit

You may think that some moisture around your AC unit is simply the result of condensation and is nothing to worry about. However, you would be wrong. If there is any moisture on or around your AC unit, this could be a sign of either a refrigerant leak or frozen coils. Both of these issues will need to be addressed right away in order to prevent your cooling system from breaking down.
