Your good-old set of needle-nose pliers can serve a variety of purposes when a new air conditioner is being installed in a home. From reaching into small openings to grab a wire to tightening up small nuts and bolts on wiring harnesses, a good set of pliers is always a must.
A set of tin snips will be invaluable when dealing with ductwork.
In the process of installing new ductwork, the technician will have to make a lot of cuts. They will probably use the reciprocating saw to create openings in the flooring for vents, but when it comes to trimming ductwork lines, foil tape, and even vinyl flooring, a good pair of tin snips will make all the difference. Some HVAC technicians will have several pairs of tin snips in their tool belt, and some may even have a pair of tin shears as well.
