3 Signs You Need Your Furnace Looked At

Posted on: 2 January 2018

It is so important that you have a working furnace in your home. This is your main source of heat in the winter and keeps your house at a safe temperature. If you think that something may be wrong with your furnace, it is essential to get it fixed. Here are three signs that you need your furnace looked at.

Your Furnace Sounds Possessed

If your furnace makes weird noises when it is running, this isn't normal. There may be loose particles inside of your furnace that are moving around and hitting against the metal. These may be loose parts that have fallen of, or it could be pieces of rust that have built up inside of your furnace and are moving around. In any case, the noise made by your furnace is often annoying and isn't something that you should have to deal with.

Your Heating Bill Shoots Up

If you notice that your heating bill shoots up from one month to the next and your usage of the furnace is the same, then this is cause for concern. This generally means that your furnace is working harder and harder to produce the same amount of heat. If your furnace has to work harder to produce the same amount of heat this may indicate one or more broken parts. In order to fix this, you may need a part replacement, or your furnace may simply be too old and you will need to have it completely replaced.

It Can't Moderate Temperature

If your furnace is supposed to keep your house at a certain temperature, but can manage to keep it consistently at this temperature, then this may be a sign that something is wrong. There may be an issue with the thermostat or it could have something to do with the inner workings of the furnace. In any case, this is something that isn't going to fix itself, and will likely get worse if left unchecked. Hiring an HVAC contractor to come and run some tests on the furnace is the best way to solve the temperature issue and get your furnace functioning as it should once again.

If you notice that your furnace is making strange noises when you turn it on, your heating bill goes up from one month to the next with the same usage, or your furnace can no longer seem to moderate temperature, then you should definitely call an HVAC service, like Always Ready Repair, to come and inspect your furnace to see if it needs repaired or replaced.
